 FAQ : What is a KAL?

KAL stands for Knit-along! It’s a great way to work through a garment with the support of the designer (me), but more importantly, tons of other knitters.

The heart of the KAL is our Ravelry group. There we will have updates, discussions, sharing of pictures, and knitting tips.

How do I register and order supplies?

You can register simply by purchasing the KAL pattern

Our friends at WEBS have a wonderful return policy, so be sure to add a couple of balls to your order so you have enough for swatching, or pattern modifications (like if you decide you want to work the longer sleeves).

With every section of the pattern released to your Ravelry library, you will see red links to video tutorials to help you every step of the way. The links will be right there in the pattern!

Your initial downloaded PDF will contain the pattern introduction with schematic, size information, yarn requirements and needle and notion information. It will also include a video on reading a schematic and how to choose the right size.

If you would like to knit the pattern as shown, use the standard sizing below, but add an extra ball just in case (remember, you can always return).

The Corcoran top is the perfect KAL sweater because of how many teaching opportunities it presents. We will cover chart reading, better ways to work your lace, shaping staying in pattern, as well as all sorts of tips on casting on, blocking, finishing and more.

The yarn I picked out is perfect for the stretchy lace and cool breathable fabric that you want for a spring / summer top. We will be working with the beautiful Classic Elite Song. It creates a springy, breathable, stretchy fabric that will hold it’s shape and it comes in 16 beautiful colors! NOTE: The PERFECT sub for the now discontinued yarn is Tahki Kiawah. It is also a wool, cotton blend, in 17 colors.

In addition to video tutorials and designer tips, we’ll even be going over modifications you can make, like changing body length, neck depth and sleeve length.
