Sleeve Cap (or row gauge boo boo = puffy sleeve)
I have written quite a bit about row gauge (and gauge in general) in the past. There are many myths about row gauge, the worst of them, that it doesn’t matter.
In all my sweater classes (including the current KAL Rising Spades – get it before Dec. 11 while the class is free!) I include tutorials on what to do if your row gauge is off. There’s a very special fix for what to do about your sleeve cap!!
You see the first set in sleeve sweater I ever knit (13 years ago!) I didn’t know much about row gauge. I also didn’t know that the height of the sleep cap will make it work or NOT work when you try to seam it in.
Here’s a terrifying close up of what happens when your row gauge is not right (FYI – I posted him with his arms out so it’s less obvious, but it’s not good). Full disclosure . . . this is the photo AFTER I tried to fix it :(.
